Customs & Taxes Policy

Last Updated: September 2026

Palmira Dates ships premium Egyptian Medjool dates to customers worldwide.

Because international orders cross national borders, shipments may be subject to customs procedures, import taxes, duties, VAT, inspection fees, brokerage charges, or other destination-country requirements.

This policy explains how these charges and procedures are handled.

1. International Orders

Orders placed on palmiradates.com may be shipped from Egypt to customers in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Gulf region, the USA, Canada, Australia, and other international destinations.

Depending on your country, customs authorities may review or inspect your shipment before final delivery.

Customs procedures differ from one country to another.

2. Customs Duties and Import Taxes

Your destination country may apply charges such as:

  • Customs duties

  • Import VAT

  • Sales tax

  • Goods and services tax

  • Customs clearance fees

  • Brokerage fees

  • Inspection charges

  • Handling fees

  • Storage charges

  • Other government or carrier fees

These charges are determined by the authorities, customs agencies, or service providers in the destination country.

Palmira Dates does not control the amount of these charges.

3. Are Customs Charges Included in the Order Price?

Unless specifically stated during checkout, in your shipping quotation, or in written confirmation from Palmira Dates, customs duties, destination-country taxes, and import charges are not automatically included in the product price.

Where applicable, the customer or importer may be required to pay these charges before or at the time of delivery.

For some shipping services, certain customs or delivery charges may be included in the final shipping quotation. Where this applies, it will be clearly communicated before the order is confirmed.

4. Door-to-Door Delivery

Palmira Dates offers door-to-door delivery to many international destinations.

Door-to-door service means we arrange the shipment from Egypt to the customer’s delivery location through our logistics partners.

However, door-to-door delivery does not automatically mean that all destination-country duties and taxes are included.

The exact terms depend on:

  • Destination country

  • Shipping service

  • Order size

  • Carrier

  • Customs requirements

  • Agreed delivery terms

If duties and taxes are included in your shipping arrangement, this will be stated clearly.

5. Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the products they order can legally be imported into their destination country.

Before placing an order, customers should check any applicable:

  • Food import regulations

  • Personal import limits

  • Commercial import requirements

  • Agricultural inspection rules

  • Customs restrictions

  • Required permits or licenses

  • Tax obligations

For standard consumer orders, most shipping procedures are handled through the carrier, but destination-country authorities may still request information or payment from the recipient.

6. Customs Clearance

Customs authorities may request additional information before releasing a shipment.

This may include:

  • Customer identification

  • Proof of purchase

  • Invoice

  • Payment confirmation

  • Import permit

  • Tax identification number

  • Company registration details for commercial shipments

  • Other documents required by local authorities

Customers should respond promptly to customs or carrier requests to avoid delays.

Palmira Dates will provide reasonable assistance with shipment and export documentation where required.

7. Customs Inspections

International food shipments may be inspected by customs, food safety, agricultural, health, or other government authorities.

Inspections may result in:

  • Additional processing time

  • Document requests

  • Testing

  • Inspection charges

  • Storage fees

These procedures are outside the direct control of Palmira Dates.

We will provide reasonable support where documentation or shipment information is required.

8. Customs Delays

Our normal delivery estimates are provided in good faith.

However, customs clearance may occasionally cause additional delays.

Delays may result from:

  • Government inspections

  • Documentation checks

  • High customs workload

  • Public holidays

  • Import restrictions

  • Additional information requests

  • Local regulatory procedures

Palmira Dates cannot guarantee customs processing times.

A customs delay alone does not automatically qualify an order for a refund.

9. Refusal to Pay Duties or Taxes

If customs duties, taxes, or other destination charges are payable by the customer and the customer refuses to pay them, the shipment may be:

  • Held by customs

  • Returned to Egypt

  • Stored by the carrier

  • Abandoned

  • Destroyed by local authorities

In such cases, Palmira Dates may not be able to issue a full refund.

Any refund considered may be reduced by costs including:

  • Original shipping charges

  • Return shipping

  • Customs charges

  • Storage fees

  • Brokerage fees

  • Destruction fees

  • Administrative costs

This is subject to applicable consumer protection laws.

10. Incorrect or Incomplete Customer Information

Customers must provide accurate information when placing an order.

This includes:

  • Full recipient name

  • Delivery address

  • Country

  • Postal or ZIP code

  • Telephone number

  • Email address

  • Company details where applicable

  • Tax or customs information where required

Palmira Dates cannot be responsible for delays, additional charges, or failed customs clearance caused by incorrect or incomplete information provided by the customer.

11. Bulk and Commercial Orders

For larger wholesale, pallet, sea freight, truck, or container shipments, customs and import procedures may be more complex.

Commercial buyers may need to provide:

  • Import licenses

  • Tax registration details

  • Customs registration

  • Company information

  • Food import approvals

  • Product documentation

  • Other country-specific requirements

For bulk shipments, we recommend contacting Palmira Dates before placing the order.

Our team can provide a customized shipping quotation and discuss available documentation and logistics options.

12. Special Wholesale and Bulk Shipping Terms

For large shipments, Palmira Dates may arrange specific shipping and customs terms depending on the destination and customer requirements.

These may include agreed commercial delivery terms, freight arrangements, customs responsibilities, and documentation requirements.

Any separately agreed quotation, proforma invoice, purchase agreement, or written commercial terms may apply in addition to this policy.

13. Taxes Charged at Checkout

Where Palmira Dates is legally required to collect a tax directly at checkout, the applicable amount may be displayed before payment.

Taxes collected at checkout may depend on:

  • Customer location

  • Applicable law

  • Order value

  • Product type

  • Shipping arrangement

The presence or absence of tax at checkout does not necessarily mean that no additional destination-country import charges will apply.

14. Currency Conversion

Orders may be displayed or charged in the currency shown during checkout.

Your bank, card provider, or payment processor may apply:

  • Currency conversion

  • Exchange-rate adjustments

  • International transaction fees

  • Bank charges

These fees are determined by the relevant financial institution and are not controlled by Palmira Dates.

15. Returned or Rejected Shipments

If a shipment is returned to Palmira Dates because of customs refusal, unpaid duties, incomplete customer documentation, import restrictions, or recipient refusal, we will review the case individually.

Because Medjool dates are food products, returned products may not always be suitable for resale.

Any refund will therefore depend on:

  • Product condition

  • Shipping costs

  • Customs charges

  • Return costs

  • Storage fees

  • Regulatory requirements

  • Applicable consumer law

16. Restricted Destinations

Palmira Dates aims to ship to customers worldwide, but certain countries or regions may occasionally be unavailable because of:

  • Carrier restrictions

  • Sanctions

  • Customs regulations

  • Food import restrictions

  • Government requirements

  • Logistics limitations

If we are unable to ship an accepted order to your destination, we will contact you to discuss available alternatives or an appropriate refund.

17. Changes in Customs Regulations

Import rules, tax rates, and customs procedures may change without notice.

Palmira Dates may update its shipping or customs procedures when regulations or carrier requirements change.

Customers placing commercial or large-volume orders are encouraged to confirm current import requirements in their destination country before shipment.

18. Need Help Before Ordering?

If you are unsure about shipping, customs, taxes, or import requirements for your country, contact us before placing a large or commercial order.

For standard online orders, you may place your order directly through the website and our shipping partners will handle the normal delivery process.

For bulk, sea freight, truck, pallet, or container shipments, contact our team to receive special pricing, volume discounts, and a customized shipping quotation.
